What Is Dengue Fever?

In rare cases, it can lead to serious complications, especially on a second infection.

If you’re travelling to a high-risk area, the dengue fever vaccine can help protect you against the virus. The vaccine – known as Qdenga – is now available in the UK and is recommended for travellers aged 4 and over who have previously had dengue or are going to areas where infection is common.

The vaccine is given as two doses, spaced three months apart. It’s especially useful for people who have had dengue before or are likely to stay in risk areas for longer periods.
